Wine Bottle Decoration

Idea from:  A. Party Style via Pinterest
"Cooking" Wine:  Bordeaux 2009

Items needed:
Ribbon (your choice)
Wire (I used 26 gauge silver)
Jingle Bells (I used 1 3/4" and the rest are 1/2" bells)
Wine (that you aren't drinking)
Wire cutters (though scissors could work with a high gauge)
This wire tool thingy (I'm sure someone can tell me what's it's called, but to me it's a thingy)

Things I wish I had and will probably will buy later:  Glue gun

So I have way too many jingle bells around the house.  The reason will probably be the subject of a future post.   So I was on pinterest doing a jingle bell search to see what in the &$#! I could possibly do with all of these bells.  DCguy and I were invited to a holiday party this weekend, and one of the ideas I liked on pinterest was from A. Party Style for a wine bottle decoration.  I figured it would be a good use of the extra bells and wire.

First I cut a piece of wire (about 6") and then curled the end of wire with my wire tool "thingy" (WTT from here on out).   By the way, I purchased the tools and bells from Michael's in the jewelry section, but I was also able to find a lot online via amazon.com.

Because the wire is so thin, I slid the bell on the wire, then when it was in the notch I created, I used the WTT to wrap it around the bell so it wouldn't slide off.

The yellow thing is the WTT
Yay!

So I made 9 more of these, and I used varying lengths of wire.  In hindsight I wish I had preplanned the lengths a bit more, so that the bells would hang at different points when the tops of the wires aligned.   After a couple of sips of wine I didn't care so much.

So then I aligned the bells and then twisted the wires together so they were easier to work with.  I also added a small piece of wire to twist around them just in case.  I cut a piece of ribbon to tie around the wires, but it was too short.  So, I wrapped the wires in a tight circle (I used the wine bottle for guidance) and then wrapped that piece of ribbon around it.

Wrapping the ribbon

Voila!
In the end, I wish I had a glue gun to secure the ribbon and I will probably use that in the future if I do this again.
